According to Venture Development Corp. (VDC, Natick, MA, www.vdccorp.com), control system suppliers are becoming increasingly dominant in markets for distributed/remote I/O products. Comparison of current and 1998 data shows that this trend is fairly consistent and is not affected significantly by market movements embracing openness and interoperability.
