Sony Completes Expansion.

Tape-Disc Business, October, 2000

Sony Disc Manufacturing (SDM) has completed the DVD production expansion at its Terre Haute, IN, facility (TDB, Jan '00). The expansion increases productivity by 96 million units per year and creates additional positions supporting the new production capabilities, enabling the facility to accommodate new customers.

"Our DVD manufacturing capacity is exceeding 10 million per month," said Bob Hurley, senior vice president, sales and marketing. Sony Disc Manufacturing is replicating content for sister companies such as Sony Music, Sony Pictures and Sony Computer Entertainment (PlayStation), as well as for third parties.

All of Sony's DVD manufacturing facilities worldwide offer a combined capacity of 100 million DVDs a year.
