Marquardt hiring, $200 million plant investment all part of Ritek's U.S. plans.
Ritek, Global Media, already considered the world's largest recordable media manufacturer, wanted to increase its presence in the pre-recorded optical media market. The Taiwanese-based company made big headlines late last year when it hired former WAMO executive Rick Marquardt, Jr. to serve as COO of Ritek Global Media, and CEO of the company's North American subsidiary, (TDB, October '00).
But hiring Marquardt is just the beginning of building a U.S. powerhouse in pre-recorded media, particularly DVD. The company is investing more than $200 million in three new U.S. facilities and equipment. "We are committed to the growth of our DVD manufacturing business worldwide,"...
