Taiwan-based Ritek Global Media, one of the world's largest optical disc manufacturers, confirmed to I TDB that the company is in "proactive" discussions with several other replicators regarding potential mergers or acquisitions. Frank LoVerme, Ritek's executive VP for business development -- and one of 25 former WAMO executives and technologists recruited by the Taiwanese disc giant when it established a beachhead in the U.S. nearly three years ago -- told TDB that the recent announcement of a tentative agreement by Thomson-owned Technicolor to acquire Panasonic Disc Services had greatly accelerated what LoVerme characterized as previously low-key discussions.
