Carl Ostrand began his long and illustrious career at the Folger Coffee Company after completing his military service. After leaving Folgers, he became a buyer for Martinson's Coffee and then worked at green coffee importing firms, Farr Man Coffee Inc, and Incotrade in New York. He later moved to New Orleans and worked at Westfeldt Brothers, Inc. for many years. Most recently, he was working as an independent in the coffee industry. Ostrand was a past president of the Southern Coffee Association.

He leaves his wife. Carolyn Pigrenet Ostrand, children, John and Bill Ostrand, Jason, Melissa and Bill Verret and grandchildren.
