The Honduras Cup of Excellence competition awards ceremony was held in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. 800 farmers took part in the second annual competition. Forty-one farmers received the coveted Cup of Excellence award. This is the largest number of awards from any single competition for the Cup of Excellence program since 1999, when it began.
Just a year earlier, 200 farmers participated and 21 coffees received the CoE award.
Cup of Excellence states it is the most stringent coffee selection program available due to its quality-only focus. The coffee is cupped at least five times, and must score 84 out of 100 possible points. It is cupped once in pre -screening, twice by a national jury, and twice by the international jury.
