Cendant Corp., parent of Avis Rent A Car, may be looking to buy Budget Group. According to wire service reports, Budget would sell off its European operations in the next few weeks for about $75 million to Sixt AG, Germany's largest car rental company, and then enter into talks with Cendant.
A Budget spokeswoman said there have been rumors of a Budget sale for years, but would not confirm talks with Cendant. Cendant would not comment on the report.
