Efforts by major wholesalers to boost their Mexico sales this year--including increased promotions and advertising campaigns--are starting to pay off, with several companies reporting stronger bookings. But although there is cause for optimism, suppliers and agents say that there still is room for improvement.
Great deals from Mexico suppliers are helping in the recovery, says Ken Pomerantz, vice president of sales and marketing for MLT Vacations in Minnetonka, Minn. "It took them a while to react to a more difficult business environment in regard to promotions and practice, but they have gotten more aggressive in the last couple of months," he says.
