WASHINGTON -- The deal signed last week between Travelocity and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, under which Travelocity will cut out third-party wholesalers to distribute Disney products, highlights a growing trend among online companies to secure merchant agreements.
Travelocity Vacations will sell Disney theme park tickets and Disney hotel rooms in a way that cuts out the middleman. But there is no exclusive arrangement between the two that prevents other companies from distributing Disney products, notes Randy Garfield, CTC, executive vice president of sales and travel operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and president of the Walt Disney Travel Co.
