Delta Air Lines CEO Leo Mullin, speaking at the International Aviation Club in Washington, said the airline industry must address overcapacity and investigate the benefits of mergers and acquisitions if it is to "fix the problems that continue to face the airline industry once and for all." Mullin's comments mirrored a statement by Continental CEO Gordon Bethune the same day, in which he warned that a significant return of services in the first quarter had ended his airline's chance of reporting a profit by March.
