Promotional funds promised. (News Update).(Mexico's Congress to allocate tourism promotion funds)(Brief Article)

Travel Agent, May, 2002

Mexico's Congress has officially approved promotional funds originating from half the revenues received from a tourism tax of close to $16 imposed about three years ago. Armed with this newly approved budget, the Mexican Tourism Board is planning new strategies, including promoting specialty markets such as adventure and ecotourism.

The board is now working with such destinations as the highlands of Oaxaca, San Luis Potosi, and the states of Michoacan, Veracruz, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chiapas and Quintana Roo, assessing quality of eco-adventure products to later highlight each segment market independently.
