Since former President Jimmy Carter's visit to Cuba in mid-May, there have been some indications that trade relations with this uniquely preserved Caribbean island might be normalized. While some congressmen have, with varying degrees of success, tried for years to curtail the 40-year embargo, the most recent news is that certain adamant supporters of free trade within the Bush administration--including businessmen, farmers and some travel industry officials--are lobbying for an end to the ban.
