V-com gets engaged: Vacation.com is giving its agency members a revamped extranet and new ways to boost profitability. (Travel Agents Retail).

A year ago Vacation.com launched a plan, dubbed Engagement, to boost preferred-supplier sales and more effectively push consumers through its agency members' doors. Now the travel agency marketing services firm, owned by Amadeus, has entered the second phase of its effort to get its 9,142 agency locations more involved with its programs.

At last year's annual conference, Vacation.com rolled out AgentNet, an extranet that serves as a conduit for the group's marketing efforts. Now that agents have had a year to get used to the new technology, the Alexandria, Va.-based company wants its members to take the next step--and it's not taking no for an answer.
