In the late-70s, The Love Boat not only tempted millions of Americans with the prospect of a cruise vacation, it put the Mexican Riviera on the map. Viewers dreamed of one day disembarking in the Pacific ports of Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. Twenty years later, not only has the Riviera retained its popularity as a cruise destination, the Sea of Cortes is becoming a favorite spot as well. Following is a sampling of Mexico cruises. Fares are per person double.

American Safari Cruises: The eight-night Sea of Cortes itinerary on the 12-guest Safari Spirit yacht sails roundtrip from La Paz, and visits Loreto, and small fishing villages and coves. There are nine departures between Nov. 1 and Dec. 27. Fares start at $4,595.
