The National Tour Association's (NTA) Research and Development Council recently conducted a series of "Word on the Street" conference calls with NTA tour operators which discussed ways in which tour operators can better utilize travel agents in selling packaged travel. Participants overwhelmingly agreed that packaged travel is high on agents' radar screens. To attract vacationers who may be reluctant to commit to long-haul travel--due to concerns about security and the economy--tour operators are offering many international programs that feature added value. Following is a sampling of these global packages.
