American ID number. (Travel Agents).(American Airlines requires unaccredited travel agents to obtain ID number)(Brief Article)

Travel Agent, August, 2002

Effective Sept. 15, agents not accredited by ARC or IATA will be required to obtain an identification number to access American Airlines' inventory. The requirement will primarily affect independent contractors who do not use a host agency to book American tickets and remote access users. Continental and Northwest implemented similar policies in 2000 and 2001, respectively, as a way to help the airlines track those agents who have access to airline inventory but who are precluded from actually ticketing the items.
