Although the ski season doesn't officially begin until November, the first snowfall arrived in Telluride in late August, when summer was still in full swing. This was an encouraging omen for a ski season the Farmer's Almanac predicts will bring heavy snows and colder-than-normal temperatures. The western ski resorts are prepared to capitalize on the potentially bountiful snowfall, and are gearing up to welcome the first snow-seeking travelers.
