We hear Star Alliance anchors United, Lufthansa and Air Canada are just months away from requesting business proposals for developing the alliance's own dedicated GDS. Word is Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre, own dedicated GDS Word Worldspan and major IT companies are all in the running to set up the new system.
At the same time, a Star spokesman warns that such a GDS may never get off the drawing board.
