Aloha Airlines begins nonstop service between Honolulu and Rarotonga in the Cook Islands on Dec. 9, using a new 124-passenger Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The carrier will offer two roundtrips a week until next spring. From May through September--when it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere--Aloha will scale back service to one roundtrip per week.
The new flights will leave Honolulu on Mondays and Wednesdays and leave Rarotonga on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The 2,900-mile flight takes about six hours. Call 800-367-5250 or visit the Web site [www.alohaairlines.com].
