Travel managers are quickly learning that choosing the right corporate credit card for their company goes well beyond finding the one with the best rate. The Internet has opened the world of online bookings, expense management and improved reporting mechanisms to the credit card companies, who in turn are using them to compete for their best customers.

In early October, Frankfurt-based AirPlus, a leading international provider of card systems to corporate travelers, signed a deal with British Airways (BA) to give corporate customers in the U.K. the ability to manage their costs more efficiently.
