Because of the scenic beauty of the ski regions of Austria, Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland, crossing from one nation to the next can be an exhilarating European vacation. Combining ski packages with riding the rails into the next ski resort in a nearby country is an excellent way to experience the beauty of the European Alps.

Rail Europe and DER provide many ways of crossing the borders in the Alps: The France 'n Italy Pass, for example, provides rail travel within those two countries. The pass is valid from four to 10 days within a two-month period, and gives access to the high-speed Italian Eurostar and Cisalpino, as well as the French TGV (reservations are mandatory).
