Some 265 passengers and crew of the Sun Princess (pictured) reported a gastrointestinal illness during the ship's voyage from Los Angeles to Hawaii. Princess Cruises subsequently decided to cancel the remainder of the Jan. 25 Sun Princess cruise, arranged for passengers to fly home from Honolulu and said that guests will receive a complete refund for the five cancelled days of their cruise, as well as a credit toward a future Princess cruise.
The five-day repositioning of the empty ship back to Los Angeles will allow the line to thoroughly clean the ship and prevent further transmission of the virus.
