With the explosion of championship golf courses to lit the area in recent years, Orange County, Calif., is poised to take off where other California golf regions--Palm Springs, San Diego, and even Pebble Beach--have left off. According to the 2002 National Leisure Travel Monitor, a premier marketing tool for the travel industry published by Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown and Yankelovich Partners, Inc., approximately one out of every six consumers surveyed said they would like to incorporate golf into an upcoming vacation.
