Oliver Bloodstein's incisive nostalgic biographical sketch of Robert West (Nov./Dec. 1999 Asha) brought back poignant memories of my beginnings as an undergraduate in speech-language pathology. Personally, I would credit West as the birth father of medical, especially neurologic, speech-language pathology.
