Voluntary Screening Takes Off in Montana With the recent addition of South Carolina, the number of states that have passed EHDI laws has grown to 32--from 12 in 1998. In addition, EHDI legislation is pending in six more states--Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Vermont--and still more states have established voluntary EHDI programs.
