Raymond G. Daniloff, 65, on Oct. 2, 2004, of heart disease, in Slidell, LA. Daniloff was the oldest known survivor of a three-chambered heart. He earned a BS in chemistry from California State College of Pennsylvania, an MA in education from Harvard, and worked toward a PhD in chemistry at Iowa State University.

Encouraged to apply for a doctoral fellowship in speech and hearing, he moved to the University of Iowa, where he studied with Arnold Small in psychoacoustics and Kenneth Moll in experimental phonetics, earning his PhD in 1967. He subsequently taught at the University of ...
