Stopol Auctions.(What's New on the Web)
British Plastics & Rubber, January, 2005 by Maier, Clive
Ohio-based Stopol Auctions bills itself as the only auction website dedicated exclusively to the plastics industry. The aim is to bring the competitive atmosphere and dynamics of the auction room directly to the buyer's desktop. Site registration is required but free while fees for buying or selling are described as nominal. As an introductory offer, Stopol will waive all selter's commission and transaction fees for a period of 90 days from the site launch on November 23. In addition to on-line live auctions, the site will also offer webcast auctions and 24/7 reserve auctions. These options involve making maximum proxy bids. The system will then bid the minimum sum needed to take the lead, rather in the style of eBay.
