* The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced $42.9 million in disbursements from the three-year-old Compassion Capital Fund, including $6.9 million in new grants to 14 intermediary organizations to provide grassroots assistance to faith and community groups. About 100 organizations will use these funds for high-priority issues such as at-risk youth, homelessness, healthy marriages and rural services, HHS said.
An additional $31 million will go for second- and third-year grants for intermediaries who have received past funds under the program.
