CHATSWORTH, Cal.--Sanyo has begun shipping the model VM-PS12, a palm-size, no-frills camcorder that uses the company's fuzzy logic technology. This technology automatically adjusts the shutter speed and white balance by mimicking human thinking processes.
The model, which has a suggested retail price of $499.99, comes with an optical viewfinder and manual 3X zoom lens. The former permits the subject to be accurately tracked as zoom settings are adjusted, and a large LCD on the back of the unit reads out the current camcorder mode of operation, the tape counter, reminders and warnings.
Other features include a flying erasehead for clean scene-to-scene transitions, a quarter-inch charge-coupled device solid state pickup with 70,000 pixels, high-speed picture...
