Zenith picks time Warner for DVD. (Zenith Electronics, digital video disc)

The Time Warner Toshiba consortium has added Zenith Electronics to its list of manufacturers supporting its version of digital video disc (DVD) technology. Zenith said that it chose the Time Warner Toshiba platform over the Sony Philips version because the former will be compatible with the new high-definition television standard being developed. The Time Warner Toshiba machine will play discs with up to 5 gigabytes of data per side and may eventually be able to record to disc.
