NEW YORK--Two regional retail powers reported quite different sales results for the first quarter of 1995; Ultimate Electronics sales more than doubled, but Best Products Co.'s dropped slightly.
At Ultimate Electronics, which also operates stores under the Sound Trak name, sales for the quarter ending April 29 were $48.39 million, up 62 percent from $29.8 million during the same period last year. If sales continue at this pace, Ultimate Electronic's volume for the year will reach almost $200 million, well above the $88 million it posted last year.
The 15-store chain based in Wheat Ridge, Colo., operates stores in Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada. The company said the large increase came from new stores.
