Energy rules off for TV. (Department of Energy to withdraw proposed energy efficiency standards)(Brief Article)

Television is off the Department of Energy's hit list. The agency has withdrawn a proposal to set energy efficiency standards for TV sets. DOE said the decision will let it focus its resources elsewhere. The agency also said the industry argued successfully that regulations could interfere with development of innovative technology, including high-definition television, which is seen as critical to the competitive health of the American TV manufacturers.
