Wireless whirl: NEC America steps up its efforts in U.S. mobile communications.

NEC America is hoping to increase its market share in the cellular telephone and paging devices through an expansion effort. In spring 1995, the company divided its mobile radio products division into three business units, the wireless message terminals division, the wireless voice terminals division, and the wireless communications division, to prepare for the growth. NEC America had sales of $800 million in 1994, with cellular products and pagers comprising about 35%.
