Austin, Texas - Dell Computer Corp. reported last week that Intel's Pentium processor will power its Dimension desktop personal computer line.

In the past, Dell's Dimension computers were packed with Intel's 486 processor. The switch to Pentium, Dell officials said, will not affect the line's retail prices. The Dell Dimension P60, the most basic PC in the line, will remain at $1,299, the same as before Pentium was added.

At the same time, Dell increased the standard specification across the desktop range - all Dell Dimension PCs will now be shipped with 8MB RAM and 64-bit PCI local bus video as standard.

Dell only sells its line of PCs directly to endusers and the computers are built to order. The company markets PCs designed for home and SOHO...
