MAHWAH, N.J.--Sharp Electronics Corp. has introduced a compact lightweight projector for home theater use that reportedly delivers an image four times brighter than previous models in the series. The Sharp Vision model XV-P15U incorporates the company's single-panel LCD technology and a newly developed optical system, which is said to improve center-to-center uniformity.

It can be connected to any video source and will project an image up to 100 inches across, maeasured diagonally. Characterized as an entry level home theater system, the XV-P15U has a suggested retail price of $2,500. It is now shipping.
