Compaq Computer Corp. and other manufacturers of microcomputers plan to rush to market with equipment incorporating Microsoft Corp.'s new Windows 95 operating system software. Also, prices have been reduced on computers with older operating systems in time for the beginning of the 1995-96 school year. Windows 95 was tested by 500 Compaq employees, and the computer company hopes to increase its market share by training employees to use and service the software.

Houston - To capitalize on this week's Windows 95 debut, some PC vendors are rushing to market with fully loaded Windows 95 PCs, while Compaq is cutting prices on existing machines by as much as 20 percent.
