Thermoscan to make IPO. (initial public offering)(Brief Article)

Thermoscan Inc., a maker of infrared ear thermometers, has filed for an initial public offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The offering is being underwritten by Merrill Lynch & Co. and Alex. Brown & Sons Inc. According to the filing, Thermoscan is registering 4.37 million shares, which are expected to solicit an offering price of $12 to $14 each. After the offering, 12.35 million shares of common stock will be outstanding.

Funds raised from the offering will be used to repay subordinated notes and senior bank debt.
