RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J.--Samsung electronics continues to diversify its computer products portfolio as it enters the CD-ROM drive market at retail with four-speed model.

The SCR-630, now shipping, is compatible with multisession Photo-CD disks and standard CD-ROM and CD audio disks. The unit also features a headphone jack and volume control.

Jeff Edelstein, Samsung's senior marketing manager for storage products, said the company introduced the CD-ROM drive because of the increasing popularity of CD-based software among consumers.
