New York - Compaq Computer corp. says it has something for every computer user in its new series of Presario desktop units for the consumer retail market.

The 11 new models, which make their debut today in Compaq's largest introduction of consumer desktop PCs since the company unveiled the Presario brand two years ago, are aimed at the three consumer groups Compaq is targeting this year: home office workers, multimedia enthusiats and main-stream family users.

Compaq is also launching its new machines three months earlier than it did last year, in part to get a jump on the competition and to show its commitment to the consumer business segment, said Mark Vena, product marketing manager for Compaq's consumer business unit.
