Toy Biz lands 'Apple for Kids.'(Apple Computer Inc. licensing agreement)(Brief Article)

NEW York--First it was Compaq Computer Corp. teaming up with a toy company--fisher-Price--to market hardware and software products at preschool aged younsgters.

Now Apple Computer Inc. has named Toy Biz Inc. as a licensee of its new "Apple for Kids" brand name, which marks Apple's entry into corporate brand licensing.

Under terms of the agreement, Toy Biz will develop, manufacture and distribute a line of mass market electronic learning aids (ELA) and other learning toys and products bearing the Apple logo.

The products will be designed to introduce preschoolers (ages 2 to 6 years) to Apple products. The Apple for Kids ELA products are intended to be educational, easy to use and fun.
