Dec. vac shipments soar 15.2%; rise 5.8% for year. (vacuum cleaner shipments in 1995)(Brief Article)

NORTH CANTON, Ohio--Capping a year of strong growth, the vacuum cleaner industry finished strongly with December shipments up 15.2 percent, according to the Vacuum Cleaner Manufacturers Association. Shipments of uprights, canisters and sticks totaled 942,304 for the month, up from 817,867 for the same period of 1994.
For the year the industry finished up 5.8 percent on shipments of 14,918,609. This compared with 14,097,707 for ail of 1994. "We ended up with a good year," said Cliff Wood, spokesman for the VCMA.
