EL SEGUNDO, Cal. - Increasing inventory turns while improving profitability. Any company doing business in the computer retail industry today knows how elusive these objectives can be.

Merisel Inc., the computer hardware and software distributor, is launching a program to increase turns and profitability. The programs, Bargains Etc. and Priced to Move, are two targeted programs designed to address the challenge distributors face in managing excess and obsolete inventory.

Through the Bargains Etc. program, Merisel "dramatically" discounts products that have not been sold in more than 120 days. These products are then promoted in a weekly fax to a new segment of retailers who specialse in the purchase and sale of older-version software and hardware...
