Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America is introducing a 40-inch plasma display-based TV into the market in 1996. The prototype unit measured 3.5 inches deep, 32 inches high, and 36 inches across with a weight of 44 pounds sans connection cables and wires, speakers or chassis. The unit will be priced in the range of $8,000 to $10,000. Mitsubishi is also introducing direct-view TVs and an 80-inch projection TV.
ATLANTA--Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America Inc. will introduce a 40-inch plasma display into the TV market this year.
The news came during the company's product rollout here of new and bigger projection and direct-view TVs.
