PC intros fall early. (fall 1996 lineup of personal computers from Packard Bell, Compaq and NEC)

Compaq, NEC and Packard Bell introduced their fall 1996 line up of personal computers. Except for a few enhancements, the new computers are substantially similar to the manufacturer's spring 1996 products. Packard Bell computers feature a new Navigator interface. Compaq's computers have user-friendly enhancements, such as volume controls on the machine.
NEW YORK--Three major PC vendors are introducing their fall lineups, looking to add vigor to a retail industry that has experienced a general slowdown in sales this year, according to retailers.
As is the trend, Packard Bell, Compaq and NEC are offering specific models for the different subsets of the consumer market--the general family, home office user, gaming enthusiast and heavy Internet user.
