Sears, Roebuck and Co., as part of a continuing effort to expand its outside of its core Sears mall-cited stores, has acquired Orchard Supply Hardware Stores for approximately $415 million. Orchard operates 61 hardware superstores in California. Sears operates 2,300 department and specialty stores, including Home-Life furniture, Sears Hardware, and automotive parts and tire outlets, which includes 390 Western Auto stores.
