Long anticipated as a revolutionary operating system, Windows 95 did not meet sales expectations nor did it receive unanimous praise among computer retailers. However, most computer executives believe that Windows 95 was a solid improvement over pre-existing operating system software. Computer retailers hope that interest in Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 3.1 browser will spur sales of Windows 95.
