Office equipment and supply manufacturers are anticipating the proposed merger between Staples Inc. and Office Depot Inc. The merger is expected to shrink the number of suppliers and pose short-term challenges for the two office equipment and supply stores. The merged operation,Staples, The Office Depot, will operate 1,100 stores throughout the US.

HIGH POINT--With the dust still settling over the recently reported proposed merger of Staples and Office Depot, a number of the companies' furniture suppliers are keeping an understandably close watch on developments.
