Thomson Consumer Electronics, in accordance with a new agreement with DirecTv, will get residuals from sales of DirecTv Ditital Satellite System (DSS) programming. The deal marks the first time that a consumer electronics hardware maker will participate in a major product's hardware and software revenue streams, according to Thomson executive VP Joe Clayton.
