Sony surfs for $349. (WebTV Internet access product)

Sony Electronic has assigned a $349 suggested retail price to its WebTV product, which will debut in Sep 1996. The device is intended to give consumers Internet access through their television sets. Philips Consumer Electronics plans to market its version of WebTV, which will be available by Oct 1, for $329. Sony and Philips are producing the products under license from developer WebTV, which also serves as the products' Internet access provider.
PARK RIDGE, N.J.--Sony Electronics has given its WebTV a $349 suggested retail price. The Internet-browsing set-top box will be available sometime this month.
