GLENDALE, Cal.--Disney Interactive is trying to broaden its audience with a low-priced game line.

On Oct. 15, the company will launch a branded line of animated CD-ROM games priced at around $14.95.

Disney's Hot Shots brand was designed specifically to reach the first-time entertainment software purchaser and the impulse buyer. "The new price gives us an opportunity to get into their shopping cart," said Hope Neuman, vice president of marketing.

Neuman said the low price will not cause margin erosion. "These games offer huge margins," Neuman said. "These are priced in such a way that they are making a better margin than our average-priced games." (Thirty-four dollars to $39 is the average price of a Disney Interactive CD-ROM.) ...
